DUBAI: Athletes seldom recover from major knee injuries. Umar Gul is learning that the hard way.
Working hard to make his international return, Gul announced that he was back with a six-wicket haul in a lost PSL cause for his team Multan Sultans against Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday night. He hoped for a Test recall after picking up 6-24 but had to miss his team’s very next game against Lahore Qalandars on Friday because of a swollen knee.
Tom Moody, Multan’s coach, is hoping that the former Pakistan Test pacer will recover in time to play a further role in the team’s title campaign. A source in the team said that Gul was hopeful that he will recover soon to make a comeback in the playing eleven.
