ISLAMABAD: Talented Mahin Aftab checked into the final of ladies singles event in the first Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Open Tennis Championship with an easy win in the semis at the PTF Complex Friday.
Southpaw Mahin got better of Esha Jawad 6-1, 6-0 to earn a place in the final where she would meet top seed Sara Mansoor. Sara outplayed Mahvish Chishti (4) without putting in extra efforts 6-1, 6-1.
In the men’s doubles finals, top seed pair of M. Abid and Shahzad Khan beat the Murtaza brothers. In the senior 45 doubles final, second seed pair of Hameedul Haq and Mushaf Zia beat top seed pair of Irfan Ullah and Mehmood Khan in straight sets.
In the boy’s u-18 event final, Muhammad Shoaib bagged the title after beating Huzaifa Abdul Rehman in an entertaining three-set match. Huzaifa ultimately retired in the third set when he was 2-1 down. In the boys/girls singles under-10 final. Hamza Roman bagged the title after facing tough resistance from Jamal Shah.
