Taking notice of the acute shortage of forest cover, the Punjab government, in collaboration with the private sector, has launched a campaign to plant 130 million trees across the five districts of southern Punjab. The authorities concerned are currently formulating comprehensive strategies that will help plant trees across the province in an effective manner. The government-backed Green Pakistan Programme (GPP) is welcomed by a large number of people.
More steps should be taken to expand the country’s forest cover as well as help in the conservation of the wildlife. The GPP will also play a vital role in mitigating the harmful impacts of climate change in. What is expected from the provincial government is a fast completion of this campaign. Who doesn’t want to see greenery around?
