UAF organises Lantern Festival

FAISALABAD: The Confucius Institute (CI), University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), organised the Lantern Festival, a Chinese festival, at a local hotel on Saturday.

The event was chaired by UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar while CI Vice-Chairman Dr Ashfaq Chattha and Dr Fahad Rasool also spoke on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that China and Pakistan were enjoying excellent bilateral ties based on brotherhood and neighborhood. He said that the Confucius Institute was a step to bringing the people of both countries closer through language learning.

He said that the Confucius Institute was mulling extending its operation to other institutes, including Government College University Lahore and University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. He said that 35 faculty members of the UAF had completed their degrees from China. He said that the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor would bring prosperity in the region. He said that the country would witness an economic turnaround that would help ensure sustainable development because of the CPEC. Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Chattha said that the UAF was enjoying good relations with the Chinese institutions. He said that the agriculture sector was the backbone of the economy that was directly linked to rural development. He said that the UAF academic ties with Chinese universities were being boosted to get benefit from each other experiences. He said that the Chinese universities were proving their mettle globally in every field.

‘Faisalabad city a role model’: The Faisalabad city is a role model for the entire business community of Pakistan, including female entrepreneurs and private sector of other cities.

It was said by Woman Chamber of Commerce & Industry Peshawar Division president Fauzia Inayat while visiting various industrial units and Faisalabad Woman Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.
