Hyderabad Police bust SLA terrorist cell
SUKKUR: The Hyderabad Police foiled a major terrorist plan to attack the city with the arrest of five terrorists of RAW-backed Sindhudesh Liberation Army along with arms and large quantity of explosives, said DIG Hyderabad Javed Alam Odho on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at the SSP office, Hyderabad, on Friday, DIG Odho said the police received a tip off that some terrorists at Aliabad, Hyatri Bypass hideout, were planning a terrorist attack in the city and were preparing explosive devices for that purpose.
As the DSPs CIA Mohammad Aslam Langhah, Nazar Deeshak, Shabbir Sarki conducted a raid at the hideout, the Sindhudesh Liberation Army terrorists opened fire at the police who however managed to arrest five terrorists along with a Kalashnikov, three pistols and at least 15 kg explosive material, the DIG said.
He identified the suspected terrorists as Muzaffar, Shakeel, Ghulam Murtaza, Rafaqatullah and Mohammad. The DIG said the group is funded and instructed by Indian intelligence agency RAW. According to DIG Odho, the terrorists were trained in India to carry out subversion and prepare explosive devices.
They were tasked to carry out terrorism in Pakistan and were led by an alleged group leader Asghar Shah from Larkana, who is wanted for carrying out explosions and other terrorist acts in different parts of Sindh. DIG Javed Odho said an alleged terrorist Munir Abro of Shikarpur supervised terrorism on behalf of Asghar Shah.
According to preliminary investigations, the group was likely behind the Qasimabad explosion on Jan 29. They also planned to blow up the Rohri Bypass and Mehrabpur Railway Station.The DIG said the group’s arrest goes on to prove the involvement of RAW to destabilize Pakistan by carrying out subversion.
The DIG said the Sindhudesh Liberation Army has been involved in conducting terrorist acts in Sindh, attacking personnel of law enforcement agencies, Chinese nationals and damaging infrastructure projects like railway tracks and bridges. The DIG announced cash award of Rs 0.5 million for the police team which busted the terrorist group.
