Six sessions held at international conference
CPEC: Myths and Realities and other topics discussed

PESHAWAR: Six sessions were held on the second day of the international conference on CPEC here Wednesday and presentations were made on a number of subjects.
The sessions were held at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University in Peshawar at its main campus at Larama on the outskirts of the city. A number of scholars from all over the country and faculty members and students of the university attended the conference. Due to an unusually high number of speakers, parallel sessions had to be held to accommodate all of them.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana remained present throughout the day, presented a paper and took keen interest in the proceedings. Chinese scholars were also in attendance.
The first session in the morning focused on the socio-economic, cultural and ethnic issues and regional integration. Prof Dr Zahid Anwar, director, China Study Centre, University of Peshawar, chaired the session. The speakers included Dr Razia Sultana, M Salman and his colleagues, Hashmatullah Khan and his colleagues, Bushra Hamid and Akram Rashid. A parallel session on the same issues was chaired by Prof Dr Amir Khan from the Centre of Excellence, CPEC. The speakers were Prof Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto, Saima Perveen and her colleagues, Dr Nadia Farooq and her co-authors, Dr Nadia Farooq and her colleagues, Azmatullah, Hina Bahadur and Anwar Ali.
A panel discussion on “CPEC: Myths and Realities” was moderated by Dr Abdul Shakoor. The panelists were Hasan Daud Butt, Lt Gen (r) Mohammad Asghar, Malik Mirza, Dr Shahid Rasheed, Mustafa Hyder Syed and Dr Raza Rahman Khan.
Two parallel sessions were held next. Dr Shahid Rashid chaired the session of Perspectives on CPEC. The speakers included Zill-i-Jannat, Dr Shamaila Farooq and Saima Gul, Sabina Babar and Muhammad Nadeem Mirza, Ejaz Gul, Muhammad Jamal and his colleagues, Adeel Ali and his colleagues and Muhammad Abouzar.
The other session also focused on Perspectives on CPEC and was chaired by senior journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai. The speakers were Rahmanullah and his colleagues, Rida Fatima and Dr Khuram Iqbal, Hafsa Ali and Fizza Farrukh, Danish Baber, Anwar Saeed Khan and his colleagues, Prof Dr Zahid Anwar and Prof Mohammad Irfan.
