DIGs given new responsibilities in major police reshuffle
Several police officers of the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG) were transferred and posted in a major reshuffle made in the Sindh Police Department on Tuesday.
The reshuffle was carried out on the orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khowaja, according to a notification issued by the provincial police department.
The notification says that the transfers and postings have been ordered in exercise of the authority conferred under a judgment of the Sindh High Court.
DIG Muzaffar Ali Shaikh, Establishment, Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi, has been transferred and made with immediate effect as DIG Special Branch, Karachi. DIG Muhammad Arif Hanif, who was awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted as DIG Sindh Reserve Police (SRP), Karachi.
Dr Muhammad Amin Yousufzai, who was awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted as DIG CIA, Karachi Range, in place of DIG Saqib Ismail Memon. DIG Amir Farooqui of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has been transferred and made DIG West Range in place of DIG Zulfiqar Ali Larik.
DIG Zulfiqar Ali Larik has been transferred and given the charge of DIG East Range against an existing vacancy. DIG Ahmed Yar Chohan, who was recently promoted to BS-20 and awaiting posting, has been transferred and appointed with immediate effect DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Range. He has replaced DIG lqbal Dara.
DIG lqbal Dara has been transferred and posted with immediate effect as DIG Traffic, Hyderabad, against a vacant position. DIG Saqib Ismail Memon has been transferred and made DIG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Sindh, Karachi.
DIG Naeem Ahmed Shaikh, who was recently promoted to BS-20 and awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted as DIG Headquarters, CPO Karachi. He has replaced DIG Munir Ahmed Shaikh, who has been transferred and directed to report to the CPO Karachi. Moreover, Naeem Ahmed Shaikh has been allowed to take over the charge of the post of DIG Finance, CPO Karachi, in addition to his own duties.
DIG Javed Ali Mahar, who was recently promoted to BS-20 and awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted with immediate effect as DIG Establishment, CPO Karachi. DIG Javed Akbar Riaz, who was also recently promoted to BS-20 and waiting to appointed, has been transferred and given the charge of DIG Technical and Transport, Karachi, against an existing vacancy. Moreover, Javed Akbar Riaz has been directed to take over additional charge of the post of DIG Information Technology, CPO Karachi, in addition to his own duties.
Captain (retd) Asim Khan, who was recently promoted to Grade 20 and awaiting posting, has been transferred and given responsibilities as DIG Admin Karachi Range against an existing vacancy.
