LAHORE: Multan Division retained the title of Pakistan Railways Inter-Divisional Athletic Championships with 288 points here at Railway Stadium, Lahore.
Lahore Division obtained runners up trophy with 168 points followed by Workshops Divisions 99 Points, Karachi 35, Sukkur 34, Peshawar 6 and Rawalpindi 3.
About 350 athletes from member units of Pakistan Railways Sports Board Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Workshops, Multan, Sukkur, Karachi competed for top honours. Kh Saad Rafiq, Federal Minister for Railways was chief guest and awarded to prizes to winners.
Javed Anwar, CEO/Sr GM Railways, M Tahir (GM/W&SI) President PRSB, Prof Dr Abadat Yar Khan, Vice President PRSB, Dr Aftab Iqbal Ch, Secretary General PRSB, Rashad Mahmood Butt Sports Officer PRSB and all the principal officers of Pakistan Railways were also present in the stadium to back up the athletes on their performances.
Hamza of Lahore Division was declared fastest man of the meet by winning 100m (10.83 sec), Miss Khadija from Multan Division remained fastest girl by winning 100m in 13.06 sec. Ali Zaryab Asifwas declared Best Sportsmen of the Year 2017-18 and also Miss Zaib-un-Nisa Int’l Women hokey player was declared Best Sportswomen of the Year 2017-18.
Before the award ceremony, Prof Dr Abadat Yar Khan presented the report of activities of the Board during the past years.
