Navy down Wapda to level volleyball series
MULTAN: Pakistan Navy defeated national champions Wapda in straight games to level the seven match series 2-2. The Sailors outclassed Wapda in the fourth match of the series played at the Government High School for Boys Taunsa Sharif 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-18.
Navy’s Mubashir who failed to demonstrate his true potential in earlier matches rose at the right occasion to lead his team to beat Wapda convincingly. He got full support from Khalid, Shuja and Razzaq. The winners maintained their supremacy on the match since the beginning of the first set. Wapda made wrong serves and their smashes landed out of line. Wapda tried hard through Younis, Umer and Mohib to come back in the match and they took earlier lead.
However, the Sailors once again stole the points forcing their opponents to commit mistakes. Both team were level at 15-15 but after that, Navy applied more pressure on their opponents and won the decisive set. At close Chief Guest Sardar Abdul Qadir Khan Khosa, Chairman District Council Dera Ghazi Khan, gave away cash prize of Rs. 40, 000 to the Navy team and Rs. 30, 000 to the Wapda players. Earlier, Navy deprived Wapda a hat trick as they beat them in a hotly contested third match of the series played at the Fort Manro, a hill station near DG Khan, on Wednesday. The match which was reduced to three sets and the Sailors beat Wapda 2-1 26-24, 26-28, 25-22. Fifth match of the series will be played at Lehya on Friday (today).
