WANA: A senior army official on Saturday said that checkposts in residential areas would be removed and number of checkposts in other parts of the South Waziristan Agency would be reduced.
Speaking at a media briefing here, General Officer Commanding, Wana, Major General Numan Zakria said that the Pakistan Army had started the work of demining in South Waziristan. He said that 15 teams had been appointed to demine the affected areas in South Waziristan Agency.
He added that compensation would also be paid to the heirs of those killed and those amputated in landmine blasts in the tribal region.
He said that prosthetic limbs were also being provided to those lost their body parts in landmine explosions.
The GoC said that three amputated persons had been treated and provided prosthetic limbs while 30 other such people were also being provided artificial body parts.
He said that any person injured in a landmine blast in future would be treated free at the Combined Military Hospitals as well.
He urged the people to inform the security forces in case they find any explosive device on telephone number: 0965212847 to defuse the explosives.
He said that telephone booths would also be established on need basis and also directed for reopening of the road for patients use in Spinkai area.
