LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said in order to empower Pakistani women they must be given all the rights which Islam has made necessary for them.

The western funded groups were striving to strip the womenfolk of their security and high status inside their homes in the name of equal rights and freedom, while the fact is that only Islam has ensured the maximum rights for the women, he said while addressing the central workshop of JI women wing at Mansoora on Saturday.

Sirajul Haq urged the women to ensure maximum participation in the struggle for bringing about Islamic revolution and enforcing Shariah in Pakistan to protect their own rights and those of their young generations.

He warned the women that western secularism has only exploited woman in the name of equal rights and freedom, making her a commodity in the markets by depriving her of the status of queen of the house.

He said Islam does not detain women inside homes as trumpeted by the secular lobby but assign her a different role than men.

He demanded that women must be given all facilities of education, health and employment but with segregated from men.

He also warned against depriving the women of their share in inheritance as warranted by Islam, and providing special facilities for widows and orphan women.
