PHC closesdown 39 clinics of quacks

LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has closed down 39 clinics of quacks in the last two days in Khushab, and initiated further proceedings against them.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the sealed businesses were: 27 of general quacks, six fake hakeems, three fake dentists and three bone-setters. The centres of the quacks were Ijaz Khan Clinic, Ali Medical Store, Chohan Medical Hall, Habib Clinic, Gulzar Medical Store and Clinic, Haseeb Clinic, Kausar Clinic, Kausar Medical Store, Saleem Clinic, Majeed Clinic, Ramazan Clinic, Suleman Clinic, Zafar Clinic, Danish Medical Hall, Farooq Clinic, Fazal-ur-Rehman Clinic, Liaqat Clinic, Kamal Clinic, Zafar Clinic, Ghulam Muhammad X-ray Centre, Khan Medical Services, Medina Pharmacy, Soon Surgical Centre, Riaz Medical Store, Zia Medical Centre and Clinic, Farooq Medical Services and Sadiq Ultrasound Clinic.

The names of the businesses of fake hakeems were Fida Hussain Clinic/Al-Noor Dawakhana, Lady Maia Free Dispensary/Imrania Dawakhana, Awan Medical Store/Awan Dawakhana, Al-Syed Dawakhana/Rahat Clinic, Al-Rahim Dawakhana and Sami Pansar and Dawakhana. Three closed down dental businesses were Akram Dental Clinic, Ishaq Dental Care and Zakir Dental Clinic. The sealed bone-setting businesses were Sahib Khan Haddi Jorr, Zahoor Haddi Jorr and Mehr Haddi Jorr.

The spokesperson for the Commission said the PHC had closed down over 7,000 fake clinics and imposed a fine of more than Rs56 million.
