NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said that the people could feel the change the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government had brought about in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a ceremony here, he said the provincial government honoured the commitments the PTI chief Imran Khan had made with the people in the election campaign in 2013. Awami National Party (ANP) leader and former provincial assembly candidate from PK-14 Malik Aftab Ahmad Khan along with his family members, friends and supporters joined the PTI.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, District Nazim Liaqat Khattak and others spoke on the occasion. Pervez Khattak said the provincial government had delivered and that was why the people were joining the PTI in droves. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had introduced reforms in the government departments unlike its predecessors, whom he accused of promoting corruption and politicising the state entities.

The chief minister maintained that the ANP committed record corruption and its leaders plundered funds meant for projects of public interest. Pervez Khattak said the slogan of change of Imran Khan attracted masses and they voted the party to power for bringing about the change.

"We eliminated corruption from government departments, upheld merit, introduced reforms in health, education, police and revenue departments and restored public confidence in the government institutions," he added.

Pervez Khattak said the provincial government set up hundreds of mini-hydel power stations to produce cheap electricity and pave the way for bringing an economic revolution in the province. He said the PTI would restore the national integrity in the international community and restore its past glory if voted to power in the Centre in the upcoming general elections.
