IRIS glitches delay tax filing
KARACHI: Taxpayers have failed to file their withholding statements due to malfunctioning online system of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) said on Thursday.
In a letter written to the FBR chairman on Thursday, the tax bar said the online system was not working properly for the last three days.
The KTBA informed the chairman that many withholding agents failed to file their statement for the month of January on the last day - February 15, 2018.
“Many taxpayers are even unable to apply for extension on the online system, IRIS,” the KTBA said.
The tax bar urged for fixing the problems on the IRIS at the earliest, and extending the last date for filing withholding statement up to February 26, 2018 to provide sufficient time to the taxpayers in filing their statements.
