KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will hold a camp of 33 young volleyball players at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad from March 10 in order to prepare a sound base for the future national team. The PSB picked these players of different regions during the Inter-Board Sports Gala which was held in the federal capital in the middle of last month. PSB’s Director National Federations Mohammad Azam Dar will supervise the camp which will last a couple of months. The PSB has sent letters to the respective educational boards and has asked them to release their players for the camp. It has also been decided to send the top 12 players abroad for training at the end of the camp so that their skills could be honed while under training in the advanced playing environment. An official of the Board told ‘The News’ that the final 12-member side would be sent either to China or Iran. Of the 33 players, who have been picked for the camp, 22 belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which has been playing a key role in the growth of volleyball in the country.
