LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over demise of prominent lawyer Asma Jahangir. The former premier, his daughter and other PML-N leaders visited the residence of the deceased human rights activist and extended their condolences to members of the bereaved family. They also praised her services for restoration of democracy, freedom of judiciary and rights of minorities and women. Talking to media, Maryam said the demise of Asma Jahangir was an irreparable loss, adding that she raised voice against oppression. Asma was the first woman to become president of the Supreme Court Bar Association besides heading the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
