Coordination among law enforcers to bring peace in DI Khan: IGP
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Mahsud on Saturday said that all the law enforcers were carrying out joint and coordinated actions to maintain peace in the district.
Talking to reporters during his visit to the city, the provincial police chief said that there was complete coordination among the police and other law enforcement agencies and intelligence was shared on daily basis to carry out coordinated action against anti-social and other hostile elements.
He said that a third party was involved in carrying out terror attacks and target killings in the district. He added that the target killing and other incidents were not linked to sectarianism or any other religious differences.
A third party was behind the target killing incidents in the district, he said, adding, he was aware of the problems being faced by the citizens due to daily checking, snap checking and temporary checkpoints, saying these measures were not meant to cause inconvenience to people but to ensure that no hostile elements enter the district or stage any act of sabotage.
He urged the people to cooperate with the law enforcers to maintain peace in the district. He said that a hidden hand was trying to fuel sectarianism and divided the people on sectarian and ethnic lines to destabilise the country.
“The situation demands exercising tolerance and extreme caution to foil the nefarious designs,” he added.
The police chief said that two accused involved in the murder of a medical students Asma Rani case had been arrested and weapons used in the murder were recovered from their possession.
He said that the vehicle used in the murder was also seized. One accused in the murder case was still at large and efforts were being made for his arrest, he added.
Earlier, the IGP met with the leaders of Sunni, Shia sects, local elders and traders representatives and urged them to unite and foil the conspiracy of pitting the people of different sects against each others.
