HAFIZABAD: A 22-year-old addict attempted self-immolation here on Thursday.
Reportedly, a TV of Muhammad Riaz was stolen and he doubted that addict Zaigham Abbas had stolen it but he refuted the allegation. Later, Riaz asked Zaigham’s father to declare on oath that his son was not involved in the theft, otherwise he would report the matter to police but he refused. Zaigham felt insulted and attempted self-immolation by sprinkling petrol on him. As a result, he received serious burns. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

HAFIZABAD: A four-member team constituted by the CM on Thursday began probe into the child’s death due to transfusion of substandard blood.
The team headed by Blood Unit Punjab Deputy Director Dr Zafar Iqbal visited Khanna Bhattian and recorded the statement of deceased’s father Muhammad Asghar. The team also recorded the statements of the DHQ Hospital medical superintendent and Children Ward incharge Dr Abid Bhatti. The inquiry team would soon submit its report to the CM.
On Wednesday, six-year-old Huzaifa Asghar of Khanna Bhattian died due to transfusion of substandard blood purchased by his father from the DHQ Hospital.
