PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Railways on Monday announced to deploy additional patrolling staff at various crossing points on railway tracks to prevent rail accidents in Peshawar division.
Divisional Superintendent Hanif Gul issued the directives for deployment of additional patrolling staff on railway tracks to prevent any material or human loss. He directed the relevant officials to launch an awareness campaign to sensitise the people to exercise extreme caution while crossing the rail tracks to avoid accidents.
Hanif Gul said that it was decided to deploy patrolling staff after every one kilometer to prevent rail accidents. He asked the people living in houses near the railway tracks, crossings and gates not to install gates facing the railway tracks and note the timing of trains passing through their nearby tracks or railway crossings to avoid accidents.
The official said Pakistan Railways had started training its rail crossings and gates staff to prevent rail accidents. He said an awareness campaign was also being run in mosques and they decided to take the local elders in confidence to promote awareness among the people living along the railway tracks and using various rail crossings for their movement from one to another place.
