LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri termed Senate elections a display of country’s largest market and match-fixing show.
Addressing party leaders on phone from US on Thursday, he said an ordinance issued by the President in the dark of the night to stop elections in FATA exposed the importance of an independent parliament. He said Election Commission was nowhere to be seen and parliamentarians were brought in cages to ensure they cast their vote as dictated. He alleged that prime minister had given Rs30 million to each MP as bribe and served them food for a week to ensure that PML-N won the maximum number of Senate seats.
He said the situation exposed the morality of the parliament. He said that sham democracy and sham elections would never change the future of the poor of the country. He said this was the biggest fraud anyone had ever committed in the history of the country.
