MARDAN: The members of a local jirga, residents of Gujjar Garhi village and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists staged a protest rally on Monday against District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar and accused him of politicising the case of minor girl Asma's death.
They asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan to exhume the body and conduct the postmortem again to determine the cause of her death. The rally was held at the Gujjar Garhi village where Asma's body was found after she had gone missing.
The demonstrators holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against Himayatullah Mayar were led by PTI Member Provincial Assembly Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, Sajid Iqbal and local jirga members.
Saifullah, uncle of the deceased child, criticised Himayatullah Mayar and asked him to stop playing politics over the death of his niece. He said that the women who gave bath to the child said she was neither sexually abused nor killed. He accused Himayatullah Mayar of defaming the family. Addressing the rally, deceased Asma's father Behram Khan said that his daughter was neither killed nor sexually abused. He added that his child went to the fields located near his house where she got scared of dogs and other animals and died of extreme fear. He added that his family was defamed through wrong report about her sexual abuse.
