Huge quantity of spurious injections seized
LAHORE: The FIA Corporate Crime Circle raided a housing on Ferozepur Road and recovered a huge quantity of unregistered and spurious injections on receipt of secret information.
According to the FIA, accused Qaiser Mehmood Sulheri was arrested, as he was involved in manufacturing and selling spurious drugs. An FIR has been registered and a huge quantity of ampule/ injections M Gesic and unlabelled (used by drug addicts for intoxication), purportedly manufactured by Mediate Pharma and Dosaco Laboratories have also been recovered. The FIA said efforts were underway to arrest other accused involved in the heinous crime. Besides, the three companies have disowned the recovered injections and declared them spurious.
Minister visits hospital: Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department Kh Salman Rafique paid a surprise visit to the blood bank and the Emergency Department of Jinnah Hospital the other night.
According to a handout issued here on Sunday, on the information of arrival of the minister, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sohail Saqlain also reached the hospital. Salman Rafique inspected the blood bank. He called Director Institute of Blood Transfusion Services Dr. Zafar Iqbal to the hospital and directed him to immediately take necessary steps for improving the conditions in the blood bank. He also directed increase in staff in the blood bank to provide better services to patients and end long queues.
The minister said that new equipment would also be provided to the blood bank. Later, he visited the emergency department of the hospital and reviewed arrangements for the treatment to the patients and hygienic conditions in the emergency.
He expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements. He was happy to see influenza counters operational along with the uniformed staff. He appreciated the hospital staff on wearing proper uniform and displaying their badges. The minister appreciated the hospital administration for putting in efforts for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring appropriate arrangements for the provision of medical treatment in the Emergency Department of the hospital.
Quality Control Boards: Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health (P&SH) Kh. Imran Nazir presided over a meeting of the Secretaries of District Quality Control Boards (DQCBs) to evaluate their performance regarding Central Drug Sales License Policy here on Sunday.
According to a handout issued here, senior officers of the department as well as district officers attended the meeting. It reviewed pending and missing cases and monthly progress of all districts.
The minister was satisfied with the overall performance of the DQCBs but expressed his displeasure over few districts, which failed to conduct DQCBs monthly meetings. He directed to constitute a technical committee which would submit proposals regarding improvement and facilitation in the system.
