KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Brig (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar on Saturday inaugurated the newly-renovated Karachi Hockey Association secretariat at the KHA Sports Complex in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, along with secretary Olympian Shahbaz Ahmad.
Khokhar hailed the KHA for promoting hockey in the city at the grassroots level. “I am very pleased with the growth of hockey in Karachi. KHA president Junaid Ali Shah and secretary Syed Haider Hussain deserve credit for their efforts,” he said. The PHF chief said that the federation had been working tirelessly with all the associations in a bid to revive hockey in the country. “KHA has been exceptional in its efforts and the others should follow it,” he added.
Khokhar said the talented and educated players being produced by the KHA would contribute to the success of the national sport.
He assured his cooperation to the KHA in promoting hockey in Karachi.
Junaid Ali Shah said KHA had developed a software for club registration on the instructions of PHF secretary, which would be a model for other associations. He thanked the PHF president for visiting KHA secretariat and inspecting the facilities, saying that all KHA wanted was recognition for its efforts. Olympian Hanif Khan and KHA chairman Gulfaraz Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
