LAHORE: Chairperson of Board of Governors of Beaconhouse National University (BNU) Mrs Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri inaugurated the construction of the on-campus boarding facility at Tarogil Campus in a brick-laying ceremony held on Monday.
According to a press release, BNU Vice-Chancellor, Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Deans, Prof Dr Gulzar Haider, Prof Dr Tariq Rahman, Prof Rashid Rana, Prof Dr Ruhi Khalid, Prof Dr Khaver Zia and Prof Dr Taimur-ul-Hassan and members of the university management were present on the occasion.
Although BNU has been managing two separate hostel facilities (for girls and boys) at different locations in the city, the university has been aiming to provide a purpose-built on-campus accommodation to students with state-of-the-art facilities within the safe and secure environment of its campus.
The hostels shall be completed in three phases. The Phase I of construction will be completed in 18 months to provide for 42,000sq-ft of segregated facilities to house 74 girls and 80 boys. Each facility will have a common room, a visitors' lounge and a laundry. A separate facility to house eight faculty members has also been included in this phase. The three phases when completed will cater to on-campus accommodation and boarding facilities for over 350 students besides hostel wardens and international faculty within the university premises.
