PESHAWAR: Senior lawyer, social worker and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Abdul Wali Khan has hoped that the agreement between Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) about supply of electricity to Koh area and Upper Chitral from the newly-built Golen Gol power project would be implemented.

“I appreciate the reported agreement as there was uncertainty among the people. I hope it will be implemented in toto,” he told journalists here.

Abdul Wali said the government should also ensure provision of non-technical jobs to the residents of nearby Koh area and other parts of the district.

“We expect the government to provide non-technical jobs to the locals. We also want 50 percent royalty on the project to be utilised for the development of the district,” the PTI leader went on to add.

He said that the people Chitral had suffered a lot due to non-availability of electricity over the years and expected the authorities to fulfill the local requirements before shifting the power to the down country.
