Illegal gateway exchange unearthed

KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to control grey traffic has unearthed an illegal gateway exchange in Hangu, a statement said on Wednesday.
A successful raid against the grey operator was carried out along with the FIA team at Hangu, where an illegal exchange comprising six gateways, multiple ports, hundreds of SIMs, three laptops, five modems, one CPU and a UPS with batteries were confiscated.
Two persons were arrested and are in the FIA custody for further investigations.
The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by the PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic, thus, curtailing the loss to the national exchequer.
