Six killed in Peshawar violence

PESHAWAR: Two women were among six people killed in two separate firing incidents in the provincial capital on Friday.

Police said unidentified people opened fire on two women inside a house in Pawaka and killed both of them.

An official said that the women were identified as Noorzai and Shazai, and both are probably sisters.

He, however, added that investigation was in progress to find more details about the women as well as the motive behind the killings.

Meanwhile, three brothers were among four killed when rivals opened fire on them in Achini village over a property dispute.

Those killed in the firing were identified as Arsalan, his two brothers Ayub and Javed, and a nephew Waqar. The accused escaped. The two groups had a dispute over a piece of land in the area.

72 arrested in Nowshera search: The police arrested 72 suspected persons, including two proclaimed offenders (POs) and 15 outlaws, during search and strike operations in the district on Friday, official sources said.

They said that the police party, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ijaz, launched search and strike operations at various areas in the district and arrested two POs, 15 outlaws and 57 suspected persons.
