Operation Zarb-e-Azb Khanewal police ordered to take strict security measures From Our Correspondent MULTAN: Khanewal DPO Jehanzeb Nazir Khan has said that Punjab IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has ordered strict security in the wake of the operation Zarb-e-Azb. Giving details of his meeting with the IGP, the DPO said that the police chief directed Khanewal police to ensure security of sensitive installations, petrol pumps, banks and schools. The police chief also ordered action against wall-chalking, the DPO added. He said that the IGP warned the corrupt officials of taking action against them. The DPO ordered a crackdown on illegal moneychangers and fugitives. He said that promotion in district police would be performance based. PCGA FORTNIGHTLY REPORT: The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association fortnightly report shows that around 14,705,853 cotton bales were sourced to the country’s ginners by March 1, showing an increase of 10.33 per cent than last year when ginneries received 13,328,667 bales. Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, PCGA chairman Hafeez Anwar said that 13,294,586 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 470,837 bales while the Trading Corporation of Pakistan purchased 94,900 bales. Thus, overall 13,860,323 bales were traded so far, he added. He said that Punjab contributed 10,741,666 bales, Sindh 3,964,187 bales and Balochistan 77,002 bales.
