Two killed in pile-up

LAHORE: Two died and seven others were injured when five cars collided with each other at Kahna area on Thursday.

Police said the accident took place due to fog. The rescuers shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where two persons were pronounced brought dead. Bodies were shifted to morgue. found dead: Body of a 24-year-old youth who was kidnapped from Misri Shah a week ago has been recovered from Mughalpura on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Hafiz Ahsan of Sultanpura, Misri Shah. He went missing a week ago upon which his family lodged a complaint at the concerned police station. On Thursday, his body was found in the Griffin Ground. Body was shifted to morgue.

Meanwhile, four bodies were recovered from various parts of the city on Thursday. A 35-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Qila Gujar Singh police station. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who died due to overdose. Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was found dead in Shahdara police limits, a 70-year-old man from Tibbi City police limits and a 60-year-old man was recovered from the limits of Bhatti Gate police. Bodies were shifted to morgue.

Accidents: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mirza Faran Baig said the number of accidents was reduced to 63 percent in 2017 on N-5 Central Zone from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan. He was reviewing the annual performance of central zone here at Zonal Office Lahore.
