Islamabad: Lok Virsa will organise three-month musical training classes in singing, flute and Rubab from February 3. The classes would be held on Saturdays & Sundays. Ustaad Sultan Fateh Ali Khan would conduct the singing classes. He is the son of late Ustad Bade Fateh Ali Khan who was among the foremost Khayal vocalists of Pakistan and a leading exponent of Patiala Gharana.
Ustad Sultan Fateh Ali Khan has been instrumental in keeping his father’s legacy alive by passing on the knowledge of classical music to the new generation. He would teach light classical singing.
Salman Adil would conduct flute classes. He has been practicing and teaching flute for several years. A master musician, Salman runs his own academy and was apt at teaching the basics, to advance skills of playing flute tunes to beginners, at a reasonable pace. Adnan Haider, who is master of playing Rabab would conduct the Rubab classes. He learnt playing Rubab from Ustad Gulab Afridi and has been practicing this art for the past 12 years.
