The Peshawar BRT project will provide comfortable transport service to residents. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that the project will be completed by March and the service will be functional by April 2018. However, the ongoing work has caused so many problems for the people. The 24km expressway that runs throughout the city has caused various blockades in congested areas where the flow of vehicular traffic is heavy.
Ever since the commencement of the project, residents have been facing great hardships. Electricity breakdown for unidentified period is observed from 9am to 4pm on a regular basis in those areas where construction work is in progress. Additionally, the green belt that was recently constructed on road sides has been demolished to pave the way for the BRT project due to which air pollution in the city has reached a dangerous level. The project work is going at a slow pace and if it is not completed before the general elections, the project will remain delayed for years.
