PESHAWAR: The Chitral Sports Gala 2018 concluded on Wednesday as the students from different educational institutions took part in various competitions at the Peshawar Sports Complex.
“The event proved to be a real success. Students from different parts of Chitral studying in various schools, colleges and universities in Peshawar participated in the festival,” said Abid Pirzada, president of the Chitral Students Association.
“As many as 14 teams took part in football tournament while 12 teams each in futsal and badminton competitions during the festival,” he added.Pirzada said the purpose of the event was to organise and motivate the students belonging to Chitral in healthy activities.
“Such events are a must to save the youth from the negative effects of the modern age,” Pirzada added.Speaking as chief guest, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Rehmat Ghazi appreciated the student leaders for organising the event.
Earlier, Hayatabad Club defeated Afghan Colony team 4-0 in a football match. A large number of Chitralis living in Peshawar witnessed the thrilling contest.In the futsal event, Zeenat Club beat Chitral Student-XI 3-2 while Ideal Club Drosh edged out Raja Bahadur Club 3-1.
