GUJRANWALA: Federal Minister for Defence Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan has expressed deep concern over poor performance of the Gujranwala Waste Management Company and Irrigation Department.
Addressing a meeting at the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Sunday, he said cleanliness situation in the city had gone worst due to negligence and mismanagement of the Waste Management Company. He warned the Waste Management Company officers that they had no option left except to dump garbage on daily basis.
Federal Minister for Defence Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan asked why not they purchased necessary machinery besides availability of funds.
No more leniency would be meted out to them, he warned.
Discussing the performance of Irrigation Department, he was told that due to non-cooperation of Irrigation Department, project of Qila Mian Singh Mines has not been completed yet. Dastagir directed the irrigation officers to get the canal cleared as he will inspect it in next few days.
Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ahmed Tipu briefed the minister about cleanliness work, saying special campaign has been started to clean the city and work is being carried out day and night.
