KARACHI: Khan Mohammad’s enterprising knock enabled Sukkur to register an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Mirpurkhas in the National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday.
Opener Khan Mohammad, who was adjudged Man of the Match, scored 95 not out which allowed Sukkur to get to the target of 154 with five overs and a bit to spare.
Earlier, he had also opened the bowling and given away only 19 runs in his quota of five overs, which contained Mirpurkhas to 153 for six in the 25 overs.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, Mirpurkhas lost a wicket early. They were in the process of recovery when the well-set opener Anwar-ul-Haq retired hurt after making 23 off 38 balls.
Number three Sharifuddin stroked his way to 49 off 43 balls with the help of one six and six fours, while Mohammad Kashif contributed 23 off 22 balls with the aid of three boundaries.
Mirpurkhas, however, failed to hit out in the final phase of their innings.
Sukkur got off to a flying start and Khan Mohammad’s unbeaten 95 off 66 balls kept them ahead of the clock. Tariq Abbasi also remained undefeated with 32 off 35 balls.
