ISLAMABAD: Favourite world junior snooker champion Muhammad Naseem Akhtar (Punjab) successfully defended his national Under-21 title overwhelming Muhammad Shahbaz (Punjab) 6-3 in the final at PSB Billiards & Snooker Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex Friday.
Naseem won 63-26, 107-17(74), 23-60, 60-17, 35-66, 51-64, 61-12, 59-05, 65-53) to stamp his superiority.The winner of National U-21 Championship Muhammad Naseem Akhtar collected purse of Rs. 50,000 with trophy, while runners up Muhammad Shahbaz was awarded Rs. 25,000 and a trophy.
Rs. 5,000 was awarded to Muhammad Naseem Akhtar for making the highest break of 111.The winner of National U-18 Muhammad Umer Khan of Punjab was awarded Rs. 50. 000 cash award with trophy, Muhammad Mudassir Sheikh, Runners Up was given Rs. 25,000 with trophy.
Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada was the chief guest. He also distributed prizes amongst the players. Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, DG Pakistan Sports Board, Munawwar Sheikh, President, Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA), Mr. Alamgir Sheikh, Former President PBSA and SVP, Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports, Fayyaz Ahmed Khan, EVP, Jubilee Insurance, Ijaz Mehmood, JEVP, Jubilee Insurance were also present at the occasion.
