Safety first
The Sindh Assembly spent Friday morning (Jan 12) discussing issues relating to children’s safety and well-being. The much-needed discussion was followed by the tragic Kasur incident that happened on Tuesday (Jan 9) and another case in which a four-year-old girl was allegedly molested on the premises of a private school located in Karachi.
An increase in the number of child sexual abuse cases has shocked the entire nation. We are living under the thick blanket of fear that our children are not safe anymore. A lot is needed to be done to eradicate this social problem from society. Our children are not safe at schools, tuition centres, parks and other public and private places. We should take serious notice of such incidents. Our collective efforts can provide children a safe environment to live in.
