Decision to abolish Chitral PA seat rejected
CHITRAL: President of the Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sartaj Ahmed on Sunday said the people of the district would boycott the general election if the decision to abolish one of provincial Assembly seat was not taken back.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said they had rejected the result of the census in the wake of which one seat of the Provincial Assembly had been abolished. He believed that 95 percent population had not been counted in the census, adding that more the 400,000 people had left the district in connection with their jobs.
Sartaj Ahmed Khan asked the government to conduct fresh census and restore the assembly seat of the district or else the people of Chitral would boycott the next general election. He claimed that other small districts, including Tank, Torghar and Shangla districts had less population compared to Chitral but had two seats in the Provincial Assembly.
