PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, during the ongoing search and strike operation throughout the province, arrested 257 suspects on Sunday.
Police also recovered 58 weapons of different kind. During snap checking on 134 checkpoints, 200 suspects were held while a total of 46 unregistered Afghan nationals were also detained and 20 cases registered against them.
Security inspections of 788 educational institutions were also carried out and various institutions were advised to beef up security arrangements further.
77 suspects arrested in Kohat raids: The police arrested 77 suspected persons, including a militant, during raids in the district, official sources said on Sunday.The sources said that the police during the ongoing operation arrested a militant identified as Imran and recovered two hand-grenades from his possession in Mohsinkhel area in Lachi.
The police shifted the militant to an undisclosed location for an interrogation.During the operation, the police arrested 76 more suspected persons and recovered 13 automatic rifles and thousands rounds of bullets.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 13 persons, including a bridegroom, for using firework in a wedding in Kohat cantonment, official sources said.The sources said that the police arrested a bridegroom, Abdur Rehman, and his friends for displaying fireworks during his wedding.
