Khattak inaugurates development projects in Haripur
HARIPUR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Saturday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government introduced reforms and made record legislation to bring about change and facilitate the people.
He addressed a public gathering and inaugurated multiple development projects in Haripur during his daylong visit.
The projects included the establishment of the Judicial Complex building at a cost of Rs53 million. He also laid down the foundation stone of the Women and Children Hospital.
He was accompanied by local leadership of PTI on the occasion.
Speaking to the participants of the gathering, Pervez Khattak said the PTI government had brought about revolutionary change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as his government achieved targets in education, health and other social sectors.
He said the PTI facilitated the change as it had promised the people.
He said the previous governments used institutions for personal benefits while government employees, who were supposed to run departments, indulged in corruption.
The chief minister remarked that PTI rooted out the ‘commission mafia’ and ended corrupt practices in the departments to do away with discrimination between the rich and the poor.
He said that facilities like e-tendering, e-billing and e-bidding were introduced in the province.
The chief minister said that billions of rupees were invested in health and education sectors, adding that there was a time when there were only 3,500 doctors in the province but now the figure reached 7,500 mark.
Pervez Khattak mentioned that health cards were also distributed among 15 lakh people while around 10 lakh more people would benefit from free medical facilities.
Referring to the revival of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, he claimed that it had done nothing remarkable.
The PTI government served the people in letter and spirit, he said, adding, his government had taken serious steps for promoting industries in the province to create employment opportunities.
He said that the Hattar Industrial Estate would soon enjoy the status of Central Economic Zone of the country as the provincial government had been successful for including it in CPEC. A similar zone would also be set up at Gilgit-Chitral section of the CPEC, he added.
Stressing the industrialists to hire local workforce for their factories, the chief minister said that the technical vocational centres, which were handed over to Pakistan Air Force by his government were now producing quality skilled workers.
Later addressing a public meeting at Khanpur, the chief minister said that the PTI had acted upon its election manifesto by strengthening institutions and enacting legislations which ensured eradication of corruption, injustice, laxity, nepotism and discrimination.
