Umer emerges National U-18 Snooker champ

ISLAMABAD: Fourteen years old Muhammad Umer Khan (Punjab) becomes the National Under-18 snooker champion beating provincial mate Muhammad Mudassir Sheikh 5-2 in the final at the Pakistan Sports Complex gymnasium Thursday. Muhammad Umer Khan after conceding first frame 41-62, came strongly back winning the second 65-42. He kept on the pressure, by winning third frame 64-22. Muhammad Mudassir Sheikh by displaying some good shots won the fourth frame by 54-42 to make it 2-2. Umer then was seen in brilliant form winning the next three 54-16, 77-28 and 65-16 to win the title. Muhammad Kashif & Muhammad Wajid of KPK supervised the final match. In all 32 players from Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan and Islamabad participated in the six-day Championship held on league basis at PSB Billiards & Snooker Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.

Muddasir (Pjb) 5-2 (41-62, 65-42, 64-22, 42-54, 54-16, 77-28, 65-16)Meanwhile, Jubilee Insurance 10th National Junior U-21 Snooker Championship will start from Saturday (January 13) at the same venue. Thirty two players from four provinces Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan and Islamabad will compete in the event.
