A clean drinking water plant installed at Labour Square, Landhi, by civil society organisations (CSO) in collaboration with the government, was inaugurated on Friday.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony city Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui appreciated CSOs for lending their support to provide pure drinking water to lower income localities.
Claiming to install 25 more plants, he said “Installation would hopefully be completed within the next six months.”
He appealed to other non-governmental organisations and members of civil society to play their due role.
The plant, the seventh to have been installed so far, was established with the support of UN Habitat, Rotary Club, Faisal Bank among other organisations.
Each of the plants was capable of providing water to approximately 1,200 to 1500 households, he claimed.
