CM wants power supply extended to upper Chitral

PESHAWAR: Chief Pervez Khattak on Tuesday directed the Secretary Energy Naeem Khan to facilitate an early agreement between the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation PEDO and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to complete the Golen Gol Hydropower Project to extend electricity supply to upper Chitral.

According to an official handout, the chief minister said that Golen Gol project stands completed and directed the secretary energy to complete all formalities required for the agreement between PEDO and Pesco.

The people of upper Chitral suffered because of the inundation of the Reshun hydro power project in a flood in 2015. Almost 16,000 houses suffered because of the flood that flushed away the Reshun Hydro power project, creating electricity related problems for the people of upper Chitral.

The chief minister directed to start working on emergency basis, formalise all the formalities and extend electricity from the Golen Gol project.

The government had facilitated all the requirements, required for the emergency completion of Golen Gol power project. He directed to complete all formalities on emergency basis for an agreement between Pedo and Pesco to resolve the electricity problems of entire upper Chitral district.

Meanwhile, the chief minister addressed the centenary celebrations of government high school Thana Malakand.

The ceremony was organised by welfare organization Mawakhta Welfare Organization and which was renamed after the name of Shaheed student of APS Adil Shahzad.

He also distributed awards among the old students of the institution and who had earned a name in different disciplines of life.

Member National Assembly Junaid Akbar, Minister Mehmood Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister on Population Welfare Shakeel Khan, MPA Nagina Khan and others addressed the gathering.
