Haroon Akhtar made PM’s Special Assistant on Revenue
By ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tuesday granted the status of federal minister to Haroon Akhtar Khan to implement the tax agenda ahead of 2018 general election.
This is the second appointment after Miftah Ismail, who was recently appointed as adviser to the prime minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs having the status of federal minister.
“Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been pleased to grant the status of federal minister to Haroon Khan as Special Assistant to the PM on Revenue with immediate effect,” said a Cabinet Division notification.
PM Abbasi declared reforming the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) his top-most priority. The withholding of genuine tax refunds has annoyed the business community and the government wants to take some corrective measures to win them back.
