PCB body barred from scrutiny of Faisalabad clubs
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday barred District scrutiny committee, constituted by Pakistan Cricket Board, from carrying out scrutiny of the district cricket associations and issued notices to the board to submit reply.
Justice Ayesha A Malik issued this order on a petition moved by Kashif Javed of Faisalabad Cricket Association challenging scrutiny committee. The petitioner’s counsel argued that district cricket associations’ scrutiny is to maintain standard of game and thereafter elections of associations are held.
Scrutiny of associations is conducted every six years and there are set method for doing so. However, the cricket board has inducted blue-eyed in scrutiny committee. The petitioner stated that under the rules, a association faced a ban which does not play two tournaments every year but the board had changed the rules to favour its favorite associations. He asked the court that scrutiny committee be barred from carrying out scrutiny process and its decisions be declared illegal for allegedly being based upon favoritism. After hearing arguments of the petitioner, Justice Malik barred the scrutiny committee from carrying out scrutiny process and sought reply from the PCB.
