Man kills wife, her mother over domestic dispute in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A man allegedly killed his wife and her mother over a domestic dispute in Mamonkanjan police limits on Sunday.

Bismillah Bibi exchanged hot words with her spouse accused Iftikhar over a domestic dispute, which enraged the youth. Later, the accused allegedly opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, Bismillah Bibi and her mother Rashida Parveen died on the spot. The police took the bodies in custody and started investigation.

13 shopkeepers fined: Price Control Magistrate Riaz Hussain Anjum imposed fine on 13 shopkeepers over profiteering and overcharging. According to a spokesman for the City District Government, the magistrate conducted surprise visits to various markets of Gobindpura, Razabad, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Rahmatabad etc and checked quality and sale of daily use commodities. He found 13 shopkeepers involved in overcharging and profiteering besides imposing a total fine of Rs 34,000 on them.

Funeral of martyred cop: Funeral of police constable Asghar Ali, who was martyred during cross firing between two rival groups on Saturday, was offered at Police Lines here on Sunday.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana, City Police Officer (CPO) Athar Ismael, SSP Operations Rana Muhammad Masoom, SP Iqbal Town Mahzoor Ali, ASP Batala Colony Irbaz Ali, DSP Headquarters Hafiz Ghulam Mujtaba and a large number of people participated in the funeral.

165 outlaws held in January: The police have claimed to arrest 165 criminals from the city during the current month of January.

The police spokesman Amir Waheed said here Sunday that among the arrested criminals include 60 drug peddlers, 45 proclaimed offenders, 29 illegal weapon holders, 21 gamblers and seven target offenders. The police also recovered bet money of Rs 21,589, 21 pistols, four rifles, three guns, one carbine, cartridges, 2.050kg heroin, 76.797kg charas and 853 litres liquor from them during this period, he added.
