A 16-year-old who was married off by her parents to a 50-year-old on the orders of a jirga in Sukkur was finally handed to her parents after the police recovered her. This incident calls for the attention of the authorities. The judgment passed by the outdated jirga system has destroyed the lives of so many young girls.
It is time the authorities took strict action and protected the lives of girls. Early marriages robbed girls of their childhood. They also have a negative impact on the health of girls. Strict measures should be taken to eradicate this menace from our society. No one should be punished for the wrongdoings of the others.
