Uneven distribution of funds: PHC stays uplift projects
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday stayed development projects in PK-23 Mardan and PK-37 Kohat.
The stay was issued on writ petitions filed by two lawmakers who believed the distribution of funds was uneven.
A single bench headed by Justice Syed Afsar Shah issued the stay order in two writ petitions filed by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ahmad Bahadur and MPA Amjad Afridi till next order. The bench issued notice to provincial government to submit reply in the writ petitions by January 9.
In first petition filed by Amjad Afridi, his counsel Mudassir Ameer submitted that despite the court orders an uneven distribution of funds was taking place the constituencies of the opposition lawmakers.
He argued that PK-37 belonged to the petitioner and were provided only Rs60 million while other constituencies were given Rs200 million each.
The petitioner alleged that funds were only provided to the favourite lawmakers of the chief minister.
