KARACHI: Hamza Khan reached the semi-finals of under-13 category in the British Junior Squash Championship in Birmingham on Friday.
In the under-13 quarter-final, Hamza overpowered Omar Azzam from Egypt 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 2-11, 11-8, but Mohammad Ammad was beaten by Islam Kouratam from Egypt 6-11, 9-11, 8-11.
Earlier, Ammad had beaten Jack O Flynn from Ireland 11-5, 11-8, 11-3 and Hamza had defeated Arnav Tevatia from India 11-3, 11-2, 11-8 to reach quarter-finals. In the under-19 category, Mansoor Zaman lost to Tom Walsh from England by 7-11, 7-11, 10-12 in the pre-quarter-finals.
In under-15 category third round, Ashab Irfan lost to Franklyn Smith from England 11-3, 6-11, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11. Asadullah Khan defeated Leo Fatialofa from New Zealand 11-4, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9. Asadullah lost to Ahmed Marzouk from Egypt 5-11, 8-11, 9-11 in the fourth round in the under-15 category.
