PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday said that his government had set up 20 new colleges in the province that would provide optimum educational facilities to the students getting higher education.
He was presiding over a meeting on the opening of new colleges, the completion of ongoing projects for the establishment of colleges and the progress made so far in this regard. Higher Education Minister Mushtaq Ghani, Secretary Education Syed Zafar Ali Shah and others attended the meeting, said a handout.
The meeting was informed that six out of the 10 colleges approved by the government had been completed and ready for opening. The land acquisition for Shaidu College has been made and the site selection for Risalpur College would be undertaken soon.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has directed for steps to efficiently manage Zamung Kor, an institute for state children. He added that the centres for state children had been expanded to nine districts along with two tribal agencies that included Khyber and Kurram tribal regions.
However, he admitted Peshawar and Charsadda centres were fully functional. He was presiding over a meeting on the Zamung Kor project at Chief Minister’s House. The relevant officials attended the meeting and briefed the chief minister about the progress on Zamung Kor.
The chief minister directed that these projects should have been functional at divisional level as resources for the purpose had been allocated to make state children productive citizens of the society.
