LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran Chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has called for formation of a global Shariah guidance authority for promotion of banking under the Islamic principles.
Speaking on the first day of the first International Islamic Economic and Finance Conference at a local hotel on Wednesday, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Pakistan was also among those nations where Islamic banking was gaining rapid recognition and a lot could improve in the promotion of Islamic banking products and services if intra-religious, local and legal issues were addressed.
He said the Islamic banking sector was capable of playing a major role in global economic scenario with its current fiscal volume which had exceeded 1 trillion US dollar. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri also stressed the need for the Muslim nations to attain their economic recognition at the global level. The conference was also addressed by Dr Najam Abbas, Dr Kabeer Hassan, Dr Naseem Shah Shirazi and Dr Paul.
